Bad news - Oil prices have jumped 12% since last Friday which will see pump prices rise in Early August. Expect Unleaded to move to €1.18, Diesel to €1.08 & Home heat to €510.

Prices will rise quite quickly as the main jump in oil was last weekend afetr I posted last week's forecast, so the higher prices above will be seen just after the bank hioliday.

another 1c on the scheduled wholesale prices expected tonight. The oil companies are ripping us off slowly though and have been for a bout a year. they buy their fuel based on Platts prices and all their scheduled prices used to be the same level above Platts. For the past year they have been driving the scheduled prices(led by Topaz who need to finance their buy-out of Shell) to a point where they are now over 3c higher compared to Platts than they were this time last year.

Prices are once again taking their cue from the equity and currency markets and the two big themes of a lower Dollar and higher equities remain in place and should support oil. Kero / diesels remain in an uptrend both in the short term (over the next few days) and medium term (over the next few weeks).

some are suggesting that this spike will be shortlived due to stockpiles of gasoline in teh US.
