Strange week with prices jumping up and down by 6% / 7% a day depending on what news is relayed. The end result hase been an increase in refined petrol with a lesser increase for Diesel & Home Heat. This weekend will probably see jumps of 3/4c basec on the increased costs from 2 weeks ago, so fill up if you see 1.13 or less petrol & 1.03 or less diesel.

Price forecast for mid August Petrol €1.21, Diesel €1.09,  Home Heat €510 /1000 litres

0.83cpl rise on derv schedule last friday, estimated rise of 1.32cpl tomorrow(weds), so your predictions seem just about right to me. Many stations will jump by 4c over the next few days, as some of them tried to keep the 0.42c reduction in scheduled prices ten days ago and did so without any trouble. They see this as a signpost that they can add at least 0.5cpl extra on any price jump. If the rise is 3.2cpl they will put 4cpl on price. That's why you never see prices at other than xxx.99cpl.

Strangely enough, when prices drop by 1.84cpl they only drop the pump price by 1cpl though....

Licence to print money for some of them out there, not all though, of course......

Sometimes early in the morning I notice the av. price is low as someone has entered a few prices at this level and not too many other prices have been entered at that stage of the day. It corrects itself through the day as more prices are entered.

Maybe Jon could change it to average prices over past 24 hour period?
