A bit of a shake up in the last few days with prices falling back substantially after rising last week. Prices will top out at current level and remain relatively static for about 2 weeks after which there should be a decent drop. Expect Petrol @ 1.11  Diesel @ 1.01 & home heat @ 450 / 1000 litres from about 10th october.

Received notification from Whitegate that the N.O.R.A level is to increase by 1 cent to 2 cent from the 1st October 2009.

This applies to all products and is net of vat. Expect immediate increases.

Independant station on the way into Cobh has diesel at 98.9. Cork seems to be the place to buy.

I heard on the radio that petrol, diesel and home heating prices are going to rise tomorrow but she didn't give a reason? Anyone know what that could be about?

Is it just me or did NORA sneak that rise in under the radar. First I heard of it was Friday last week.

I wonder why NORA would feel the need to double this levy?  Their financial statements for 2008, posted on their web site, show an operating surplus of €38 million and cash in the bank of €23 million.

the government agencies can do what the like , thats another 80 million taken out of the real economy and nothing put in ,in return. You can thank the Green Party for that , it was Eamon Ryan who signed it off.Funny the way the new property tax of 200 euro nets them a maximum of 40 million and there is huge News exposure to it ,and then not a word about this one at 80 million +vat.Nora charges 20+vat per 1000lts for emergency stock of 90 days.Surely if everyone double the size of their home heating oil tanks and kept a minimum of 3 months supply ,they would be able to do it far cheaper than NORA and the country would be able to get rid of another quango.

Sorry to butt in off-topic.  Can anyone help with a question: I'm trying to access any archive of general/average Irish petrol prices, especially for 2007/2008?  Any information gratefully received.

Thanks.

Micheal

AA website should give you the info.  http://www.aaireland.ie/petrolprices/

Goes back to 2001 and lists all prices for all european countries.
