Thankfully the crude oil has started to reverse the increase of recent weeks and as such we are near a top in retail prices for the time being. Expect an increase in retail prices next week by about 2c but this will be followed the following wee by similar decreases.

Thanks for that just dropping before the December Budget which people think with be increase of 5 cent a ltr on both Derv. & Petrol Carbon Tax

The rise will probably be in the region of 5-8 cent a litre. Thats what the commision for taxation recommends anyway.

I think it will be quite low this year and be increased next year - don't forget it transpises all fuels. Coal & Briquettes would go up by 10 - 15% based on a 6 c fuel increase. Home heat would rise too. - Not the type of negative commentary Brian Lenihan wants especially when the amount raised is meant to be only about €400m.

The outlook for crude is fairly stable at around $80 for the next few months. The realistic price for Diesel and Unleaded in this scenario depending on the dollar staying fairly steady €1.129 for Diesel and €1.229 for unleaded. Expect retailers to raise prices over coming weeks as reality kicks in. As for the budget, don't be suprised to see only a 1c per litre green levy put on all fuels. News is they don't want mess to much with fuel.

Prices are levelling off but realistic price for diesel will be €1.119.
